It’s World Password Day! May the 4th Secure You!


Yes, this is play on May the 4th Be With You, or Star Wars Day.  It’s also much more.  Did you know that it is estimated that 90% of passwords are so insecure that they may be cracked in just seconds?  There is no shortage of evidence that people do not take the security of their passwords strongly enough, both personally and professionally.

A good password is nothing without extra protection. This Password Day, give your passwords the gift of strong authentication. Time to #LayerUp!

Today, I’m celebrating World Password Day, a special day created to remind millions of Internet users around the world to protect their passwords online. By combining a password with an extra layer of protection — such as a fingerprint or a single use code sent to your phone — you add powerful protection for your online accounts, even if the password has been leaked.


I recommend passwords be at least 12 characters long.  That’s the minimum!

Don’t shop online or do your banking connected to public WiFi networks.
